    Blessings on your Furbabies

Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) comes from the Japanese Rei and Ki meaning spiritually guided life energy. Reiki for pets is a form of spiritual healing that helps harmonize the mind, body and soul of your pet. It can be used as a treatment for relaxation as well as a tool for releasing negative emotions and limitations. Reiki is not a religion.

Reiki for animals can treat ailments that may be currently inhibiting your pet whether you notice it or not. It can reduce stress, relieve pain, headaches, stomach upsets, asthma, back problems, sinus, respiratory, canine hip dysplasia, anxiety and more. It can help with abused animals, neglected animals. After performing Reiki with your first session you will see results.

Reiki is ideal for animals because it is gentle and non invasive. It doesn’t cause stress, discomfort or pain yet yields powerful results. For healthy animals, Reiki maintains health, provides peace and contentment.

For dying animals, Reiki is a gentle way to provide comfort to your pet and keep them from being afraid and anxious.

Animals respond faster than people and positive results are often seen in a shorter period of time.

Because Reiki is a healing energy, it will never harm you or your pet.

  • In Person Treatments:

Animals are more comfortable in their own surroundings and home. Treatments can be given a few feet away or even from across a room.
  • Distant Healing Treatments:

Is very effective and can be even preferable. Some animals may live too far away or fearful of strangers, elderly or close to death. But they absorb Reiki distantly. Distant treatments are cost effective for the working owner and quicker to schedule. Distant Reiki offers same benefits as hands on. Distant Reiki treatment can provide relief from surgery, emotional healing, behavioral issues and ease transition to death. After a distant treatment results can be seen soon. Depending on situation, pet may need more than one treatment.

OMG, FLEAS, nasty!!!

So its been a very busy Sunday morning.  A few days ago, Lucy started scratching and biting her paws. I thought oh no, her allergies are back again. We are heading to a cabin next weekend and was trying to time her baths. I know after we get back from the cabin, Sammy and Lucy will be dirty little dogs.  A day or so went on and Lucy seemed ok. But at night she was itching fiercely. She woke me up and I actually did reiki her and we both fell into slumber. However this morning, I awoke and looked at her belly and I saw them, yes, at least one. YUCK!!!! Horrified, I was in a scramble to find a groomer. Our groomer is off on Sunday and Monday and I needed one ASAP. The one thing I do not understand is that Sammy is fine, Mochi is fine. Why in the heck do these ^&%$ fleas like Lucy. Poor Lucy. I got on the internet looking for a groomer in the LA area. I found one and at 7am he actually answered his phone. His service is the kind that comes to you home. Well, after he asks me a zillion questions, tells me Lucy not responding to Frontline may need weekly bathes, says for $100 he’ll come out. $100??!! No way, there has to be someone else. I do a search for groomers open on Sundays. I find one in Culver City. I leave a msg but decide I better just be at her door and when she sees how cute Lucy is, she’ll take pity and give her a flea bath, flea dip, whatever it is that “they” do. I head out at 830am asking Mark to wish me luck. We get to the groomer 15 min early. As we walk around, Lucy senses that is the place to go, she throws herself at the door as if pleading, let me in and help me. We wait 10 more min, by now, its past opening time and I’m thinking they’re not coming!! I call Centinela Pet and Feed, they have no groomer. Alas, Mark gives me the number for Petco and they have an opening at 1030am. We rush home.  I would prefer a groomer for Lucy and felt bad that she has to go to one of those establishments, but the girl seemed nice. I took Lucy’s collar off and handed her off.  I found this website, http://www.dogchatforum.com/get_rid_of_fleas.htm which had all kinds of information. We have now sprayed, powdered the house. Thank you Gordon for the powder and thank you Mark for vacuuming the whole house!! Exchanged and cleaned all the bedding for us, for the dogs.  Candy on her walk this morning called to tell me people are digging up the earth right behind our houses. This must be the reason for these fleas. The moving of the earth probably has released all kinds of buggers. GROSS! I’ve never had a problem with Mochi or Sammy and they  have been with me for 8-11 years. Never ever once have I had to deal with fleas. EVER. What a nightmare. I think I am itching just writing this.

Adjusting to life as we know it

So as you all know Lucy is at my house now. Star is at Candy's. The last several weeks when walking down to Candy's house with Lucy she would refuse to walk. She'll walk across the street , down the street but not up the street. I got her once with a treat but last week even with a treat she refused. What was this about? I couldn't understand. Was she upset? Was she jealous? Was she sad? She seemed okay, ate and played. In fact over the last week or soon, after her bath and her allergies taken care of, the brightness in her eyes have come back. She runs around the house at lightning speed making us laugh. I asked Candy to come and spend some time with Lucy to see if she was okay. My main concern is that Lucy is ok. Candy came down several times without her dogs and spent time with Lucy. She said Lucy was not anxious. She even gave reiki to Lucy several times and said, there was no anger, no anxiety.. just that she was content. Content at the Brown house? wow. How cool is that. I was happy to hear it. If Candy said Lucy wasn't anxious I believe it.

So the last few weeks Sammy and Lucy have been home while we have been at work. And no digging, the house isn’t destroyed. I’m just amazed. My niece Rayne comes to visit them on occasion, thank you Rayne! She comes and just hangs out with them.  One day in particular that Rayne came to hang, Sammy and Lucy were the happiest dogs! When we got home they were full of energy and I could tell they were extra happy!! (Rayne is going to watch Mochi next weekend while we are away, Mochi will be thrilled) Sammy Diva and Lucy  are doing well. Sammy is 8, so I imagine her sleeping alot.. Lucy is 3 and she gets her laser beam play every night with Daddy. (http://blog.reikifurbabies.com/2008/06/16/our-corgi-part-dog-part-cat/)

So all in all, things are good.

Tomorrow I take Sammy back to the Vet to get her urine checked to make sure her bladder infection is totally gone. Lucy is barking at me this moment, she wants me off the computer!!
